Poder en Salud

In 2020, PROCEED, Inc. National Center for Training Support and Technical Assistance (NCTSTA) was commissioned by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to lead a national initiative to increase the capacity of Latino communities across the U.S. to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, through education, messaging, and linkage to local support services, in states and/or among segments of the Latino community hardest hit by COVID-19. The resulting initiative is PODER en SALUD.

As 2024 kicked into swing, so has a trio of respiratory viruses: COVID-19, Influenza, and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). The three viruses peaked together in time, resulting in many hospitalizations and deaths. However, you can protect yourself and your family by wearing a mask.

Some benefits of wearing a mask are:

  • It offers protection from pollution and allergens.
  • It keeps you from inhaling any respiratory hazards.
  • It protects others and reduces the spread of infections.
  • It reduces and prevents the exposure of germs that can make you sick.
  • It keeps you from spreading germs.

Masks should be worn:

  • When you're feeling sick
  • On public transport like buses, airplanes and trains
  •  At the theatre, movies, music, and sports events
  •  In crowded indoor shops or supermarkets
